Synopsis
State of Control is a bold documentary that follows two American filmmakers as they travel undercover documenting activists throughout the Tibetan diaspora who are risking their lives to peacefully protest against the oppression of the Chinese police state. Their journey takes them through India, Nepal, and into the most remote and conflicted regions of Tibet during a full-scale media shutdown. But when the filmmakers find themselves targeted in a cybercrime, they discover first hand the extent of the Chinese governments police state. Over a period of two years, and as the Tibetan plight continues to be ignored, 24 Tibetans have set them themselves on fire to get the worlds attention. Searching for the light at the end of the tunnel, the filmmakers and their entire crew end up joining the activists on the ground in a collective action for Tibet, in the middle of Times Square.
