Are you in D.C.? If so, set aside some time on April 16 to catch a special preview screening of Do As I Say at 5 p.m. at the Heritage Foundation. Director and star Nick Tucker will be there, and will host a Q&A afterward, and it should be a lot of fun. The event is free and open to the public--but you do need to reserve a spot. RSVP at http://www.heritage.org/Press/Events/.
MPI fellow Chandler Tuttle (2081) has teamed up with the Koch Foundation to produce a short motions graphics piece--co-sponsored by Reason.tv, Americans for Prosperity, and the Heritage Foundation--on the economic crisis. Check it out.

Are you a high school or college student with a knack for film--and a love for liberty? If you are, consider entering the new Cato on Campus YouTube Contest:
The purpose of this contest is to encourage students to combine creativity with new technology to develop short videos that promote liberty and identify libertarian students with the passion and skills to take the message of liberty into the 21st century. Each month, Cato on Campus will highlight the best YouTube video submitted by a student that deals with liberty. If your video is featured on Cato on Campus, you will automatically receive a free Cato book. As well, the creator of the YouTube Video of the Year, selected in April, will receive a full scholarship to the 2009 Cato University at Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego, CA (which covers room, board and tuition).
Hollywood and the military don't tend to mix. But there are important, vital exceptions to the rule. The GI Film Festival honors those exceptions. Founded by former Leadership Institute staff member Brandon Millett, the GI Film Festival exists to to honor our troops. "There are literally thousands of film festivals that denigrate the American warrior," Millett says. "And there is only one film festival that honors them, and that's the GI Film Festival."
The GI Festival will be held May 12-17 in Washington, D.C. For films, schedules, and ticket information, visit GIFilmFestival.com.
Do As I Say premieres Tuesday, April 28, at the Newport Beach Film Festival--and if you are anywhere near Southern California, you should take the afternoon off from work and go. Here's what people are already saying about the film:
--I saw an early screener of the film, and I thought it was great. I can't wait to see the final cut. Like Nick Tucker's other films, this one also weaves drama and humor, documentary and entertainment. I love that he gives Michael Moore a taste of his own medicine. The hypocrisies that are exposed in this documentary are truly mind blowing. Great film!--Wow! The movie brings the book to life, brings so much vigor to the information, and adds humor in the midst of the issues. Just as things get tense, as you feel the weight of the hypocrisy pressing down on you, a touch of humor shows the absurdity of the political realm.
--This film is equally funny and infuriating. I was chuckling as much as I was shaking my head in disgust. Extremely entertaining and enlightening, and never a dull moment (unlike most doc films). It's so cheeky and smart. Love it.
--High on production value, low on bias. Seriously. You'd think at first blush that it might pander to one side of the political aisle, but watch it and judge for yourself. And besides, the humor alone will make it worth your while. Check it out.
